Mel + Murray

Norfolk Island, South Pacific

Mel had been following me on instagram for a little while when she saw that I was spending Christmas on Norfolk Island in 2020. She reached out to me to say she was getting married there, as her husband-to-be, Murray, grew up on the island and his family still live there. As fate would have it, I spent a little bit of time as a kid living on the island and my dad still lives there, so I jumped at the chance to photograph a wedding here. Not only is the island one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen, the people are so wonderful, the vibes are so cruisey and a wedding was something that everyone on the island got involved in. And a huge bonus to this for me was getting to spend more time with my dad and step-mum (and an excuse for John to come and surf the uncrowded reef break every day).

Mel + Murray’s wedding day came and it was pouring with rain all day, I went out for 2 hours to find some wet weather locations and came up empty. With less than 2 hours to go, the clouds parted, the sun came out and it turned into the most insanely excellent day. I am so grateful to these two for bringing me to Norfolk to document their wedding day. It was so much fun and they are just the loveliest pair.

But the most exciting thing - COWS ROAM FREE ON NORFOLK ISLAND! This place is heaven on earth.
